Welcome to Camp Gan Israel of Central Long Island a Jewish Day Camp! CGI is part of the largest and fastest-growing network of Jewish camps in the world, and over the years has developed into one of the finest summer programs in the area, with a well earned reputation as a trendsetter of innovative ideas, creative programs and new activities. Involving the total child, Gan Israel provides a diverse and high quality program for children from all Jewish backgrounds and affiliations. From PreK through 8th grade, many a child has been known to wait all year to come back to Gan Israel!
Our real success lies in our outstanding staff. Our counselors are known for their responsibility, personal warmth, and ability to care for each child as an individual. Each counselor is a role model for his or her campers, creating friendships that last forever. Their love for the children is surpassed only by the children's love for them.
Our mission is to seamlessly create a dream summer of adventure with a wide range of exciting activities: horseback riding, arts & crafts, specialty programs, weekly trips, challenging sports with professional coaches, gymnastics, performing arts, archery, martial arts, Chalah baking, elective ‘fun shop’ workshops, friendship and much more, all within a Jewish framework. We offer a full program of both recreational and instructional swimming supervised by a professional staff of certified lifeguards and swim instructors. Our most amazing daily combination of activities has children motivated, excited and on-their-toes.

Gan Israel is much more than a physical break from the school routine and winter activities. It’s a comprehensive program designed to strengthen the body and soul. It provides your child with a rich and wholesome summer vacation of fun and excitement along with friendship and meaningful educational experiences.
Staff
Child development is the most significant ingredient in a healthy camp experience. This is why our staff is the real secret to our success. All of the main counselors are at least sophomore college students who are chosen for their experience and responsibility, and are known for their personal warmth and ability to care for each child as an individual. Many staff members return year after year, lending experience and continuity to all programs. Each counselor is a role model for our children, promising them friendship which will last forever! Their love for the children is surpassed only by the children’s love for them.
CULTURE
Gan Israel campers are imbued with a deep sense of pride in their Jewish heritage and a love for the land of Israel. Weekly Judaic themes are taught through exciting activities, stories, songs, games and contests, which are part of the unique Gan Israel experience. Combined with group discussions and educational programs, these events bring to life the beauty and values of our tradition.
ACTIVITIES & SPECIAL EVENTS
Our weekly program is enhanced with choirs, Olympic type games, police and fire demonstrations, drama, ballet, carnivals, dress-up days, overnights, color war, hiking, bunk competition, Shabbat parties, Challah baking, and .. oh... so much more. Under the direction of our experienced crafts director, campers will have the opportunity to design and take home some wonderful Judaica projects.
TRIPS ON THE GO
Gan Israel’s “Trip Days”, which are well known, are scheduled each week and feature excursions to many local attractions. Some include Adventureland, White Post Farms, Go Karting, Bowling, SkyZone, Explore Family Fun Center and many more, all geared to the children’s interests.
